Comment: After living in my building for 2 years, I sincerely regret that I have to move and let go of AJ Clarke as my property manager. I dealt mostly with Robert Gordon as my agent, but I communicated with a number of others in the office during my time in this building. This company has been incredibly communicative and helpful. Perhaps most impressively, Robert was always ready to problem-solve with me and totally devoid of any judgment when I approached him with certain difficulties that he had no duty to assist me with. My buildings super was so kind and made himself available 24/7 for emergencies. When I needed repairs, I never waited more than a few hours before he arrived to look at the problem. The building had a fire over the summer (due to a residents improper storage of electrical devices, I believe), and nearly immediately, the building had industrial-sized air purifiers spaced out evenly throughout the building for months until the smell was gone. I am seriously nervous about having to embark on a rental journey with a new property manager (their website was the first place I looked for listings -- unfortunately, none in the area I need to move to). Companies that genuinely care about their residents are rare, and I hit the jackpot with AJ Clarke! If youre looking for an apartment, check AJ Clarke first, Im serious. You cant miss with these guys!

My super was very responsive and always help to work around my work schedule to ensure that I was able to get any small ticket serviced. One time I got locked out and he event came out his free time to ensure I got into the building. Rob is also great over at the Agency he helped me end to end with the leasing process and I was throughly pleased with their response times! Overall one of my favorite apartments Ive lived in during my time in NYC!

Comment: Out of the five apartments I have lived in Manhattan, my experience with AJ Clarke has been my best yet. The office was easy to communicate with, buildings were always well kept and maintained, and tenants were made a priority. Anything brought to management’s attention was fixed the day the request was sent and the main office is response (usually very hard to find). I can only hope my next building management is as great as this!

Comment: Rented from AJ Clarke for a year during 2021. The apartment was in a great location but a little small. Never had any major issues with pests. Laundry was in the basement, but they didnt have a quarter machine, so doing your laundry turned into a task, especially when there was a coin shortage. The super, Ali, was great, and very helpful.The only elevator in the building did break down several times throughout our lease in the building, which usually took several days to repair. The management company itself I never really had to deal with except at the end of my lease. They provided me with a letter of recommendation for my next landlord as well.My only complaints were about the elevator, the laundry, and the length of time for us to get our deposit back. Received our deposit over a month after we had moved out of our place, due to the mail never being delivered. Now there is an additional 9 day hold on the check.All in all, we probably would have stayed if they didnt raise our rent by about $1000 (after a move in special/raising the market price.)

My apartment is in very good shape regarding fixtures, appliances, etc. - no complaints. Robert Gordon, my contact at AJ Clarke, was always quick to respond to emails and when I had some confusion about how a 1 month rent incentive was applied, talked me (emailed me) through the situation and it all worked out. They required a guarantor when I really really still think they shouldnt have needed one, but once I got into the apartment all was well.

All communication with AJ Clarke was super quick, efficient and professional. We primarily worked with our property manager, Robert Gordon (who was great), but the (very) few times he was not readily available we were quickly put in touch with someone else.The apartment itself was excellent. It was immaculately clean and well maintained when we moved in. We never had any noise problems with our neighbors. The building had a live-in super, Ali, who was fantastic. The few, minor issues that we had were expertly dealt with with professionalism and astounding speed.Unfortunately due to the pandemic it did not make sense for me to renew my lease, but if not for that I would have in a heartbeat. I had no problem at all getting my deposit back.

We were nervous because weve had management companies in the past that are very hard to get a hold of, but when I called with a few questions Mag was incredibly friendly, helpful and everything was taken care of before the end of the day. We are so relieved and glad to have a responsive management company!

Comment: Ive been living in an AJ Clarke building for a few years now and recently Ive notice a dramatic change in the service.Theyve started to address and resolve issues as soon as they arise and keep us informed of the progress. Ive called their office numerous times with questions and have always received great service from their staff, especially from Mag. She in particular, has given me the impression that she genuinely cares about her tenants, and its always a pleasure speaking with her.I work in the property management industry and I would recommend AJ Clarke, not only to other tenants, but also to any other Landlords or co-ops that are looking to change to a better management company.

Comment: If you’re interested:I lived at 72 Barrow street for roughly seven to eight years.in that time I forged a lovely rapport with the Super, Abraham and his second, José.And since José left, with Francisco and Harrison (who, only recently, gallantly defended us from a few mail thief’s by organizing a quiet and seamless sting operation with local PD)Moreover, throughout years, I maintained a very civilized relationship with Scott Clarke the manager of the property who was always understanding and reasonable.Eric and Scott worked together to help me break the lease when a work opportunity forced my hand in moving. Comment: AJ Clarke has been the best management group I have dealt with in the city and that is over 5 groups. They have always been responsive and accommodating to my requests. We recently had an issue in the apartment and they worked with us to get everything fixed and replaced within 24 hours - that never happens! Additionally, if there is ever anything upcoming with the building (such as laundry room fixes), we are made aware of it well in advance. In my experience, this rarely happens. Move-in, start date and everything was very seamless and easy. Id recommend AJ Clarke real estate

Comment: Well, i rarely write reviews, but felt compelled because these guys just totally took care of me. i had a flood in my apartment, the Super couldnt fix it, but tried really hard. I called the office told them it was an emergency- they got a plumber here within a few hrs. i had to leave, so the Super let him in and it was fixed and cleaned by the time i got home from work. super helpful.
