Comment: A year ago, we spent the better part of the afternoon sitting out front of the White Hart catching up with Elyse Morris and telling her that after five years of on and off looking, we were really ready to buy. The fact that she and John Panzer still took our phone calls after all this time, probably says it all. They didn’t just want to sell us a house, they wanted to help us buy the house that was right for us.Having only ever owned apartments, buying a house, let alone buying a house from afar, was a daunting process. We knew nothing about furnaces, roofs, annual landscaping costs, and the list goes on. John and Elyse went above and beyond, pointing out potential issues, educating us on the pros and cons of various heating and cooling systems and helping to entertain our children as we toured houses.Alas, when we did find the right house all did not go smoothly and again John and Elyse stepped up to the plate, keeping both parties engaged in a deal that could have easily fallen apart and helping to oversee the installation of a new septic system prior to closing.We have been the happy owner of a CT weekend house for the past seven months and while we don’t expect to ever leave this home, if we do, John and Elyse will be our first call.

The process up until we started working with Elyse was truly painful we went through 4 brokers whose interest in our search bordered on the non existent at best. We were truly fortunate to find Elyse through a friend and her professionalism, interest and attention to detail made all the difference.We found our future home in early June and closed in early August. Working with Elyse and her team during that time was a true pleasure. We always felt we were in great hands throughout the whole process. Knowledgeable, honest, and professional are the first three that come to mind. She is extremely knowledgeable of all the local Realestate laws, local inspectors, lawyers, and anything else youll need to know to get started on your home buying adventure. She is honest, and very forthcoming with everything she knows about the property listing. My wife and I always felt that her advice was in our best interest. She even hired an independent contractor to inspect the roof of the house for her peace of mind as well as ours. Comment: I listed a home that my siblings and I inherited from our Dad with Tom Vigeant from the Harney agency. The home was in East Canaan and was in need of renovation. Tom has significant experience as a builder (30 years) and was very helpful to us in making smart suggestions. One major one was to remove an in ground oil tank, have a soil inspection and install a new tank in the basement. This was very helpful as it allowed us to complete and avoid issues that may have come up at the home inspection. We also had to replace a 30+ year old septic tank. Tom was very helpful in getting us a great company to do that work for us in a very timely and professional fashion. We and the buyers were very pleased. Tom was supported by Elyse Morris, the Company owner. Elyse was also a joy to work with. Incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the local real estate market. Our house sold and the closing was very smooth. Tom and Elyse were a powerful team.

Comment: Harney (real estate) itself seems to have more of the best homes in the area we were looking (NW CT) than any other broker. We chose Harneys Tom Callahan as our broker (buyers broker) because he had a good (actually the best) balance of being genuinely helpful and pleasant to be around .... best of all the other brokers we met. We changed our house preference after thinking about issues he raised with a house we wanted to get. When we told him we wanted to see 8 houses in two days, he arranged it without any hint of being burned out by the scheduling or the driving or the coordination. During the search process, which lasted many months, Tom was helpful in narrowing down our list of properties. He had already seen most of them. Once we did find the house we wanted, Tom made things happen on an expedited schedule, handled the negotiations over price, and pursued points that we had not been aware were important until later. Tom connected us to many others in the local community and his people and resource recommendations so far have been spot-on. I dont think we could have found a better agent for our needs.

For starters, Kathleen Devaney took my random call on short notice to show me a listing that was already under contract. After touring the unavailable listing, she quickly assessed the type of property that interested me and showed me an ideal property. Through out the negotiations of the house, she remained astute and sensitive to both the buyer and the seller executing the sale rapidly. Subsequently, she provided excellent advice and contacts for needed renovations and property management. She came highly recommended to us and my husband and I expected the usual real estate representation that seems standard to the industry. We were taken aback when we met Elyse because from the outset, she was professional but warm and cheerful and was intent upon finding us the right property no matter how long the process would take. We immediately felt like we were her only clients. Over the course of several months we made countless trips to Litchfield county and were always warmly met by Elyse and whisked around the countryside to find the right house. When viewing houses, Elyse never pushed us or invited us to see where our furniture might fit or gave any indication of a hard sell such as we have experienced with past realtors. Elyse Harney Morris (and her mother Elyse Harney) are icons in Litchfield County and literally pillars of the Salisbury/Lakeville/Sharon communities. Theyre the go-to people for just about anything, but definitely when it comes to real estate. When we started looking, we were interested in Salisbury/Lakeville/Sharon exclusively, and to make things even more difficult, on the first day that Elyse Harney Morris took us out, I pointed out the window of the car and said I want that house. There was no for sale sign in front of that house so, of course, it wasnt on the list of homes she was showing us that day. Guess what? We knew no one here other than our family, and with one son being located in upstate New York and a daughter outside Boston, we were looking for a middle ground. I arranged to visit and view the property as well as others in the area, and we were lucky enough to get Elyse Morris as our agent. I spent one day with her looking at a variety of properties. Not only did she show me the properties, she also toured me through the area - Millerton, Lakeville, Salisbury, Sharon, and Norfolk.
