Peter is so easy to connect with and offers a great balance of information sharing as well as listening to clients and their wants/needs to offer the best level of support! We reached out to him about selling our apartment in Astoria and after meeting to show him our place, discuss initial asking price and how we wanted to proceed, he brought over a great photographer that took the most amazing bright & warm pictures of our place that made it look so inviting to potential buyers. Peter and his team fielded many interested emails, calls, etc. and ran multiple open houses as well as numerous private showings. When we had offers, they helped us navigate them with ease and then finally through the process of going in contract to signing they gave us great support and were very skilled at coordinating with the lawyers, property management company and board needs as we were in a co-op. When doing my research to decide which firm I should use, I found that his marketing/listings looked just as good as anything one of the big guys could do. Coincidentally, at the time there were a few apartments in my building that were listed by the bigger guys, that just sat and sat.. and couldnt sell. So I decided to give his small business a chance and I am glad that I did.Peter was able to get my unit into contract at asking price, in a reasonable timeframe. At no point did he pressure us into reducing the asking price. It was a personal decision to cut the original ask by $10k, just to speed up the sale. Comment: I went into the home buying process with trepidation about working with real estate agents. I’ve been turned off by their techniques and, quite frankly, personalities in the past and was dreading working with someone who I didn’t like as a professional or as a person. Thankfully, I had the opposite experience. I met Peter Horowitz at an open house and he seemed nice and wasn’t pushy so I set up a meeting with him and he quickly relieved my apprehensions. He was extremely knowledgable about the areas I was looking to buy in and was honest about each property’s pros and cons and let me form my own opinions about them. He is a friendly, considerate, and really quite funny person and every time I interacted with him it was laid back and downright enjoyable which was more than I had ever hoped for. Every time I met up with Peter we would be stopped on the street by someone he knew who wanted to catch up or invite him over or ask him for advice. It felt like a privilege to go through the process guided by someone so invested in and beloved by the community I was going to become a part of. He was consistently available to answer my questions and always gave thoughtful, informed, and timely responses. I liked him so much that I recommended him to my parents and they have been equally impressed. Now that we are moved in and settled we are happier with the house than we could’ve ever dreamed of. Comment: I have used Peter Horowitz three times now: (1) to buy a one-bedroom co-op in Astoria; then, six years later, I used him to (2) sell that one-bedroom co-op and (3) buy a two bedroom co-op in Astoria. Peter is affable and easy to get along with. He is knowledgeable about the real estate market, and gave good advice on both the buying and selling side. I was happy with the price I paid for my two bedroom and the price I sold my one bedroom. Unlike other brokers, I never got the impression from him that he was any-less-than honest and never felt like I was being pressured or talked into anything. Comment: Patricia Harvey was beyond lovely to work with.My partner and I were looking for apartments available for rent in specific parts of NY, and we initially came across a listing from her on Apartments.com.I really appreciated her honesty in admitting when some units had a more uncertain status to them on being able to have the option of being moved into, and her otherwise recommending other units within our budget and preferred bubble! We went through about two or three other options before she recommended a unit to us that was in a very nice-looking part of Astoria, and even she has once before resided in the neighborhood and better-vouched for it! Even with that specific unit in that building no longer being available, the one right above in the same building turned out to be available and offered to us, and she even got the landlady there to bump the monthly rent down a tiny bit to help fit within our maximum budget! Signing the appropriate documents took less than a few days, and working with her specifically overall way about a two-three week process. Felt very smooth and quick all around!If we need to move again within the city anytime soon, we will absolutely be looking to contact Patricia again for help with that! Luckily, a friend, mentioned that she had seen a real estate office not too far from her business but she did not know much about it. What a nice coincidence. I had planned to go to the office anyway. Working with Peter was truly an easy and great experience. He made the process of buying a co-op simple. Comment: You might find a more affordable option in Astoria, but you will NOT find better service, support, and general human decency. These days it pays to use a broker that actually cares. Sophia Slabakis IS that broker. She helped me with my current apartment. Ive been living in Astoria for a month in my new place. Everything Sophia expressed about the apartment has held true. Every step of the process was thoroughly and clearly explained. When it came time to sign the lease, Sophia went through every item of the agreement with me. Ive never seen this level of service. She followed every law to the letter and operated with FULL transparency. Even after I moved in, she helped with a mix-up that was an error on the part of my post office. Best experience Ive had finding an apartment. I will recommend her to any friend or family member looking for a new home in Queens. Thanks Sophia!
