Comment: Let me tell you something. Michelle Wu (my agent) is a real one. After months of constant rejection, mostly for no real reason (a housing management s reason for rejecting us was they didnt want roommates. The unit was a three bedroom, make that make sense. ). My group were students and its likely we were being discriminated against because of that, if not, all of us were black folk, so racial bias might have been present as well. But the moment I met Michelle at the apartment I currently live in, I could already tell that she had reason and compassion, which is something I found lacking in all the brokers I had interacted with before. Not only did Michelle really listen to my worries about housing, she really empathized and reassured me about the prospects of us getting housing before the start of the semester. My group members had good credit score, and we surpassed the income requirements ,and we had multiple guarantors. Not only did Michelle have incredible patience with us as we got our paper work together (at this point we were all scattered and lived far away from each other) she executed everything with professionalism and an admirable quickness. I cannot give her enough flowers.A month into our lease one of our roommates started a conflict based on room sizes and uneven rent distribution. All our attempts at compromise and negotiation werent enough for her, and she basically went behind our backs to sabotage the lease, and suddenly we were faced with the choice of breaking the lease and leaving within 15 days or finding a way between two people to make rent for three. By then the semester had already started and I had exhausted all my funds so it was a real crisis that came about by dishonesty and extreme foul play by that third roommate. Any other broker might have taken her word at face value and we would have been faced to break the lease with nowhere to go, and a smaller chance at being approved. But thankfully Michelle was able to objectively assess the situation after I and the second roommate came to her with the full situation. Anyway Michelle is great!

Comment: When my family and I started planning our move from New Orleans to New York City, we thought wed be able to do it solo by asking local friends to go and visit open houses and putting offers on places we liked remotely. We also sent him occasional listings when we found something that looked up our alley, and he would quickly get in to have a look. Unfazed, she methodically walked us through the home buying process, home viewing, making offers, the people and resources we will need, condo/co-op review process, how long does it usually takes, etc. We are from California so we raised degree of difficulty - but I was struck by the clarity of her communication.Next was choosing the locations we were interested in - I came up with about 8-10 neighborhoods. She helped narrow down the list by asking thoughtful questions about who would live there, our lifestyle expectations, activities we are interested in, etc. Using that information, she provided feedback on my list and helped narrow it to a more manageable number.Wondering, why I haven’t discussed prices? That’s because Michelle first works through the process, neighborhoods and type/size of apartment before all that. Next she set up an account for me on TripleMint and also set up a few saved searches on the company site. The TripleMinit website is very good, tailor made for NYC - enough said, this feedback is about Michelle :). The searches gave us a sampling of the available houses and that helped identify below, at and above the magic number in our minds. Essentially, there wasnt any pressure instead Michelle let our process takes it course - that was so welcoming!I also set up my own searches and starting shortlisting places. While I have local family, a large part of our business was conducted over FaceTime and phone calls. Based on the shortlist, she would set up a virtual or a physical if my local reps were available. After the showings, we’d discuss pros/cons and is it ready for an offer. After multiple iterations (maybe 20+), we finalized a place and she made the offer. It was a bit of negotiation - so she made sure I understood the price brackets for that neighborhood/size of apartment - lest we runaway with the overbids or underbids. After a bunch of back-n-forth we signed the contact.Next was getting my application ready for the condo board/mgmt company review. She provided a useful (elaborate) checklist - large volume of documents required but the checklist really helped keep things on track for us. Her rigor in putting the doc set together was excellent and I don’t think any condo mgmt company will ever find anything missing if she manages the process :). As soon as we received the commitment letter from the bank, she pushed the application and within a couple weeks it was approved. Throughout this long process, I had numerous of questions, she was always prompt and always provided useful answers. She is also very resourceful and well connected - she also introduced us to the real estate attorney, contractors, etc.We now have a wonderful home in NYC - kudos to Michelle for making it happen. I highly recommend working with her to find your dream home!

We were moving from Indianapolis to NYC, so we were a little overwhelmed, to say the least, about all the different rules with apartment-hunting and all the areas to choose from. She was extremely patient and informative and made sure that she showed us different options to give us a really good idea of the neighborhoods. We were in contact for a month leading up to our visit and all of our questions were answered. I was able to be in NYC for like 10 hours and in that time Stacey took me to 8 apartments, helped me understand the pros and cons of each, rank them, and talk to the realtors. By the end of the day we had submitted the paperwork application for my top pick. We were able to get our ideal apartment thanks to Stacey. The fee was not too high at all I highly recommend. Thats when I came across Triplemint.They put me in the hands of one of their best agents Elliott Sudwarts who took note of all my requirements--a two bedroom, with ample closet space, parking in the building, adog friendly management and neighborhood. Elliott found around 8 apartments that fit my description ready to move into by the end of 2 weeks. I fell in love with at least 4--all of them had exactly what I was looking for.I think what I liked most about Triplemint and Elliott is that they make apartment hunting all about clients needs than their own profit. Elliott has great people skills, that made the apartment hunt fun and upbeat, even though I was stressing out about finding the right place in time. Looking for an apartment and moving is already a stressful experience for any person without the anxiety of waiting an indefinite amount of time for agents to reply to your questions or update you with their findings. I dropped another highly recommended agent (by a friend) in favor of Jamie because of his professionalism and prompt responses to any concern we have. He managed to get us an exception for our pets (they allowed 2 instead of 1) and got us a rate $100+ below our budget in our most preferred area with a balcony 4 times the size we were looking for.
